This past semester in North Texas…
I made a point to preach this past semester at Texas Universities because 5 years ago I had gotten kicked off most of the college campuses I tried to preach at. Things changed massively when Governor Greg Abbott passed an executive order to open up all schools to free speech rights. So with that in mind, I went back to Texas in 2021 to start preaching the Universities that once made it very difficult to reach college students.
COVID hysteria had also caused some issues over the past couple years, that most colleges were at less than 10% capacity for most of 2020-2021. It wasn’t until I went back to my first campus at the beginning of Fall 2021 that I knew things would be different this time around. When I arrived in Denton, TX at the University of North Texas the campus was full of students walking to classes. At that point I knew it would be a great semester as a campus preacher!
This semester was the first time in 14 years of preaching that I was able to focus on a specific region campuses and go back to over and over again. As a result, I was able to hear stories of students that God was saving because the Gospel was preached in the open air. But, I was also seeing the hardness of some students hearts on the campuses that I would go back to.
While there were christian students who thanked me for preaching the Gospel and standing up for Jesus, you would also be saddened to see other “christian” students who united with unbelievers against the Gospel preaching or flat out promoting a sinful lifestyle that is opposed to Jesus and his many teachings in the Gospels.
Homosexuality dominates the landscape…
The most alarming thing I was seeing this semester was not only the acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle but a promotion of homosexuality by professing christians. This was confirmed in a recent article I read where up to 40% of 18-24 year old college students are now identifying as LGBTQ+. This should be a RED ALERT to Christians all over America, that what they are doing or not talking about in their churches, has led to an abandonment of Biblical Truth and has resulted in a culture given over to sin and bleeding out to professing christians more than ever before.
Let us pray that Christians all over america would wake up to a hunger for Biblical Truth, to flee sexual immorality of all kinds, and to have a renewed burdened to preach the Gospel to lost people in need of Healing and a Savior.
